Don’t gamble on your present or future performance. The authenticity you achieve in life depends on taking the right risks in response to the opportunities presented to you. This session will delve into three types of purposeful risk taking.
Part I. Intellectual Risk Taking - Research and technology create
constant change in information and practice. Learn and grow...or get
left in the dust. The payoff is your being smart, prepared and ready.

Part II. Social Risk Taking - Re-discover how to connect with others,
create social capital and build positive influence.

Part III. Emotional Risk Taking - Stressful circumstances or negative
people can jolt your emotional stability--if you allow it. Take control
of your emotional state.
1. Breathe…and become centered.
2. Don’t blow…re-direct the flow.
3. Take control of the situation.

This interactive 45 minute – 1.5 hour session will get you in the swing of purposeful risk taking. Peter Drucker said it best: “There’s the risk you can’t afford to take and there’s the risk you can’t afford NOT to take.” Risk is an action verb. You will be offered the opportunity to flex your risk taking muscles and get involved in some quick, interactive challenges. This experiential approach will help you practice the strategies outlined above, internalize connections to real-life situations, and make this session lively and fun!
INNOVATION in Full Swing...Flip Change-Resistance into a Change-Ready Mindset
Synopsis:
Just when you think you have something mastered, what happens? They change it! Change is risky business. Making a change requires a leap of faith. You must move in the direction of the unknown on the hope that things will be better. Are you and your team change-ready or change-resistant? You need a personal strategy to address your own attitude toward change and a strategy to move your team toward change-readiness.
Learning Outcomes: You will:
1. Recognize the signs of change-resistance.
2. Understand why people resist change and what you need in order to
be change-ready.
3. Identify specific steps that will help others (co-workers, clients, even
family members) take the risk to change.
Content:
In this ever-changing and fast-paced environment, you need a personal strategy to address your own attitude toward change and a strategy to move others toward change-readiness. This session will help you understand how to turn risk and change...into growth and success.
Part I: Whether it’s a major organizational re-structuring, a new co-worker,
or a procedural shift, change is an external reality that triggers
internal resistance. Recognize the signs of change-resistance:
1. Gossip
2. Overt or covert challenge
3. The resistance zoo
Part II: When the established order is upset, a person’s sense of identity can
be threatened because of three underlying handicaps:
1. Not knowing
2. Not able
3. Not willing
When resistance springs from these identity-related roots, you must
help people to know the benefits/rewards of the change; be able to
make the change with the right training and skills; and be willing to
change with support or mentoring.
Part III: Specific steps to promote change-readiness:
1. To influence another person’s commitment for change, you must
engage them in four ways: Listen, Empathize, Educate and Involve.
2. To enhance your own change-readiness, give yourself an
attitude adjustment.

Synopsis:
There are stressful situations every day that can cause you to feel …no energy! ...scattered energy! ...even ugly energy! INSPIRATION is your ability to return to your inner spirit—your center of positive energy and
well-being. In that state, you will give quality service and focused attention to others. When your words and actions are sparked by positive energy, you can better cope with workplace issues. Get a power charge that will propel you into the full swing of INSPIRATION.
